DW3 - Live At Spaghettini

There’s a buzz about L.A.-based band DW3 and you can feel it on their latest album Live at Spaghettini.  This set showcases the smooth vocal harmonies and strong groove-based instrumentations that have made them a sensation at Spaghettini Italian Grill & Jazz Club in Seal Beach, California.  Throw in some hot Latin rhythms, beautiful cover art by Bettie Grace Miner and you’ve got a contemporary CD that hangs with high energy.  DW3’s Live at Spaghettini is full-on funky!

(Down With 3) features the collective talents of Eric Mondragon (keys/lead vocals), Billy Mondragon (percussion/lead vocals), Damon (lead vocals), Bryant Siono (bass guitar), Ronnie Gutierrez (drums/percussion), Anthony Gass (lead guitar) as well as special guest artist Ricky Ordono and the guys don’t waste any time getting things revved up with their covers of some old-school funk.  Luther Vandross’ Never Too Much (one of my fav songs) segues perfectly into the Toto hit Georgy Porgy (written by David Paich).  The celebration continues with their rendition of Can’t Hide Love (made famous by Earth, Wind & Fire) and they’ve even “got a thing goin’ on” with the hot vocals of Me & Mrs. Jones.

The originals on this CD are equally moving.   All I Need composed by Damon, slows the groove while Hold Me by Eric Mondragon brings it up and highlights a smokin’ keyboard solo.  Suavecito gets you dancing then Vamanos Pa’l Monte brings this song (and CD) to a striking conclusion with traditional Latin rhythms!

In addition to gigging on the Smooth Jazz Cruises (hosted by Warren Hill and Dave Koz respectively), DW3 opened the 2005 Latin Grammy Awards with Alejandro Fernandez.  They’re all about the music and a whole lot of fun.  Start the weekend early and get DW3’s Live at Spaghettini.  It’s a great party!
