Rendezvous Entertainment, the record label with the #1 market share in Smooth Jazz Radio, celebrates its 5-year anniversary with the release of two special compilations, Smooth Ones and Late Night Rendezvous on June 12th. These releases build upon the success of the Rendezvous compilation brand (Rendezvous Lounge Vol. I & Vol. II, and RSVP).
A collection of chart-topping #1 hits, Smooth Ones features the biggest songs from the biggest stars in Smooth Jazz, featuring members and friends of the Rendezvous family, including label co-founder Dave Koz, Wayman Tisdale, Kirk Whalum, Mindi Abair, Peter White & Rick Braun. Smooth Ones exemplifies the diversity of the Smooth Jazz sound. From the masterful soul of Dave Koz’ “Let It Free” to the international swing of Praful’s “Sigh,” Smooth Ones showcases the power of melody and the inspiration of musicianship.
Late Night Rendezvous on the other hand is a compilation of the underappreciated gems of the Rendezvous family, hidden jazz and chill treasures from the most popular artists in Smooth Jazz. These songs evoke a romantic, sensual mood, perfect for a late night encounter or a relaxing evening with friends.
Founded in 2002 by saxophonist Dave Koz and industry veterans Frank Cody and Hyman Katz, Rendezvous Entertainment has in this short period become one of the top labels in jazz. One reason behind their amazing success is the stellar artist roster. Hit albums by Wayman Tisdale, Kirk Whalum, Patti Austin, and Praful have risen to the Top 5 of multiple Billboard sales charts, propelling Rendezvous’ reputation in the independent world. Rendezvous’ first release in 2002 was the GRAMMY® nominated Golden Slumbers – A Father’s Lullaby, and the label has gone on to release 25 albums since.
Says label co-founder Dave Koz: “It’s amazing how far Rendezvous has come in five short years...it’s been a dream come true. Our goal was to create a new-model label where artists come first, a company with an independent spirit, providing the highest quality music and great entertainment to our loyal audience. To celebrate our anniversary with these compilations, Smooth Onesand Late Night Rendezvous, is just perfect.”
