On Stage At Kingsborough, a leading performing arts presenter located on the campus of Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Community College presents its 2018 HOT SUMMER NIGHTS! FREE Outdoor Concert series, featuring concerts under the stars every Saturday at 8:00 p.m. beginning July 7th and ending July 28th. HOT SUMMER NIGHTS! will feature a wide range of outstanding jazz musicians with unforgettable al fresco concerts under the stars. The series is proudly sponsored by Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams.
This season on July 7th, continue your Independence Day celebration with Duchess as they perform “Boogie Woogie Independence Day!” This swinging trio, comprised of Amy Cervini, Hilary Gardner and Melissa Stylianou, will perform patriotic tunes and great American gems from the Andrews Sisters and Boswell Sisters, such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen,” “Heebie Jeebies,” and more.
On July 14th, swing on over for one of the hottest groups on the international swing scene, as Professor Cunningham & His Old School present “Swing It Out!” This award-winning band plays grooving and swinging tunes deeply steeped in the New Orleans tradition; from Sidney Bechet to Fats Waller to Professor Longhair and even Fats Domino!
Experience the excitement of acclaimed trumpeter and vocalist Jumaane Smith on July 21st, as he performs “LOUIS! LOUIS! LOUIS!” The performance is a celebration of the origins of jump blues and jazz, with thrilling renditions of timeless classics from Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, and Louis Jordan, along with original music composed especially for this show.
Come dance to one of New York City’s most sought-after ensembles, Jason Prover’s Sneak Thievery Orchestra, as they bring to life hits of the Roaring Twenties on July 28th. “Everything Old is New Again!” offers fresh renditions of Jazz Age favorites such as “Fascinatin’ Rhythm,” “I’m Putting All My Eggs In One Basket,” and “West End Blues,” performed with style, sophistication, and a touch of the blues.
