    Elan Trotman is the Executive Producer and host of the Barbados Jazz Excursion, a jazz and golf weekend getaway which brings over 300 music lovers to the island every Columbus Day Weekend. Past performers include Jeff Lorber, Javier Colon, Gerald Veasley, Brian Simpson, Althea Rene, Marcus Anderson, Peter White and Jeffrey Osborne. Elan is also the founder of the Never Lose Your Drive Foundation – a Non-Profit which directly funds the Headstart Music Program. Headstart Music provides FREE weekly instrument instruction to students ages 7-11 on saxophone, trumpet, flute, clarinet and percussion. In 2016, over $6,000.00 was raised at the Jazz Excursion Weekend and Golf Tournament. All proceeds go towards tutor salaries, instrument maintenance and supplies for the program.

He is the first bassist in history who doubles on acoustic and electric bass with equal ferocity and the first jazz-fusion bassist ever to headline tours, selling out shows worldwide. A veteran of over 40 albums, he won the 2011 Best Contemporary Jazz Album Grammy Award for The Stanley Clarke Band. Clarke co-founded the seminal fusion group Return to Forever with Chick Corea and Lenny White.

    The Amelia Island Jazz Festival provides a rich, diverse cultural offering to the Amelia Island area by exposing thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds to the sounds, excitement and vitality of great jazz.

    The Festival presents world-class jazz in many styles, including swing, bebop, Dixieland, big band, Latin, and contemporary. During the week-long festival, held in October each year, music is performed by jazz greats as well as fresh, up-and-coming young talent. Performances are staged in several venues around Amelia Island including Saint Michael Parish Hall, Sandy Bottoms Beach Bar & Grill, Amelia Park, Arte Pizza, the Florida House Inn, Horizons, OMNI Hotels & Resorts Amelia Island Plantation. The Amelia Island Jazz Festival helps preserve the American art form Jazz by increasing the exposure and awareness of the music genre to the general public.

He has been named the Outstanding Bassist In the Recording Industry three times and has been privileged to play with the likes of Judy Garland, Duke Ellington, Thad Jones, Buddy Rich, Jim Hall, Peggy Lee, Mel Torme, and more. Over the years, Jay has been writing and singing his own very individualistic and funny songs about life as a bass player. He has been performing his music all over the world to very receptive audiences, and garnering enthusiastic reviews as a result.

    In 2009 the first annual Cairo Jazz Festival (CJF) was founded by pianist, composer and producer Amro Salah driven by the passion to celebrate Jazz and paying tribute to one of the unique forms of music that magically diffuses and overwhelms humans all over the planet from Alaska to New Zealand. Jazz has become a global phenomenon and has affected humanity due to its being a human experience more than being a Music style.

    Cairo Jazz Festival aims to widespread  Jazz to reach more people not only as a music genre but as a thought and a life experience with its ideas, freedom of expression and innovation. The festival managed to maintain a reputation of presenting the best of the world’s Jazz. CJF hosted on its stage Jazz with Spanish, German, Japanese, Moroccan, American, Portuguese and Lebanese flavors featuring famous Jazz Masters such as Gilberto Gil, Ziad Rahbani, Carles Benavent, Kazumi Watanabe and Han Bennink and fresh wild modern Jazz of the E.M.J.O to World Jazz Sound of Eftekasat and Calima.

    We proudly present to you the Cairo International Jazz Festival conceived on the banks of the eternal Nile.
