Biography
Scott Yanow is one of the most prolific and widely respected jazz journalists in the business. An expert on all eras of jazz from New Orleans, swing and bebop to fusion, the avant-garde and today’s jazz scene, Yanow has been a very busy writer since 1975. He has written for virtually all of the important jazz magazines (including Downbeat, Jazziz, Jazz Times, the NYC Jazz Record and the Los Angeles Jazz Scene), penned over 800 liner notes, and authored 11 books on jazz including The Great Jazz Guitarists, The Jazz Singers, Trumpet Kings, Jazz On Film and Jazz On Record 1917-76. It is estimated that Scott has reviewed over 20,000 recordings thus far, without losing his enthusiasm for the music.
